Tell lawmakers to protect New York’s tap water from harmful “forever chemicals”

faucet-water-creditSteve Johnson-CCThe federal government is moving forward with its plan to roll back regulations created in 2024 that protect against toxic PFAS “forever chemicals” in drinking water. With this move, millions of New Yorkers will potentially be exposed to harmful contaminants when they turn on the tap, putting their health at risk.

Fortunately, Governor Hochul and state legislators can protect our health, even if the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency won’t. Riverkeeper is advocating for a bill (A.8634 / S.3207-A) that will maintain strong limits on PFAS in drinking water and keep New York a national leader in tackling the PFAS crisis. Tell the Governor and state representatives we need their leadership and to pass this bill ensuring every New Yorker has clean, safe water!
