Keep the pressure on to Save the Hudson

Indian Point-October 2025 - Boat Outing-13-1200x780A federal court recently struck down the Save the Hudson Act, a critical New York law that was blocking Holtec from dumping over a million gallons of radioactive wastewater from Indian Point into the Hudson River.

This ruling is a blow to the tremendous progress we’ve made in restoring the Hudson and reconnecting communities to the river. As the health of the Hudson improves, more New Yorkers are swimming, boating, fishing, and building their livelihoods around it. Holtec’s plan to release vast amounts of tritiated wastewater threatens to reverse that progress — undermining local economies, public trust, and the river’s future.

But there is hope. New York Attorney General Letitia James has announced her decision to appeal this ruling — a critical step in defending the rights of New Yorkers and the tourism and recreation industries of the Hudson River Valley.

Now is the time to raise our voices louder than ever.

Join Riverkeeper in celebrating the Attorney General’s decision to appeal and in continuing the fight to stop radioactive discharges into the Hudson. This victory belongs to the thousands who have already spoken out. Let’s keep the pressure on and remind our leaders: We must save the Hudson, not Holtec.
