Protect SEQRA
Governor Hochul has proposed changes to the State Environmental Quality Review Act (known as SEQRA) that could jeopardize public health, the environment, and sustainable development. These changes would encourage sprawl, incentivize housing in contaminated or flood-prone areas (putting low income communities of color in harm's way), strain existing water and sewer infrastructure, and promote development on land that is vital to ecosystem health, resulting in irreversible environmental impacts.
Tell the Governor that affordable housing and protecting the environment go together, and any changes to SEQRA must promote affordability and sustainable development across New York State.
